In order to help me form an idea of your manuscript and what you are looking for, please consider the following questions: If you require a translation, should your manuscript be translated from German or Spanish? If your document is already in English, are you looking for copy editing or proofreading? How long is your text? By what date do you need the revised document from me? Who is your audience – international or based in a certain country? Is the text an academic paper, should it be published in a journal, is it a speech, etc.? What is your desired/required spelling/punctuation style (UK/USA)? If you would like me to translate or check translations: which citation style are you required to use?
In addition to answering those questions, I also require an extract of the text of at least one page as a Word document so that I can judge whether I can accept the assignment as well as how demanding the text will be. Feel free to send me the entire manuscript if you have it. When sending the document, I ask you to indicate whether you still need to tailor it before I begin working on it. Also, if you have your publisher’s house style guidelines, please send this along as well any additional reference material for your paper (texts in the same field, a glossary, etc.) that you may have so that I can consider them from the outset.
